Che la parola scritta sul dizionario si adoperi per il singolare e/o plurale lo si desume dall’articolo/articoli riportato a fianco alla parola medesima ( lu e la singolare rispettivamente maschile e femminile, l’ per plurale per entrambe i generi).
Il passaggio da singolare a plurale nel Torrese, analogamente a quanto detto per il passaggio degli aggettivi da maschile a femminile, non può essere basato sull’ultima vocale (come in italiano) poiché essa è muta: il passaggio avviene con la trasformazione dell’unica vocale accentata della parola (can/chin, candand/candind, fogl/fugl, franges/frang’s, tren/trin).
Ci sono parole che si scrivono alla stesso modo sia per maschile e femminile che per singolare e plurale: sono quelli ove tra parentesi a fianco alla parola sono riportati ( lu/la/l’). Es. ture’ist, furb.
In alcuni casi la parola, al plurale si arricchisce di una sillaba con una r più una muta ( es. cas diventa càs’r, fuss diventa fòss’r, cavìut diventa cavòt’r.
